Restricted Travel: Who May Enter the Czech Republic

From November 9, 2020 citizen of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka

or citizen of any other country except Australia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Japan, Korea,  Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand or Vatican,

may enter the territory of the Czech Republic

ONLY: 

a) if he/she is legal resident of one of the following countries: Australia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Japan, Korea,  Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand or Vatican,

b) if he/she is temporarily or permanently living in the Czech Republic (foreign nationals with a long-term residence permit or permanent residence permit, holders of a valid long-term visa, a long-term, temporary or permanent residence permit card for residence in the territory of the Czech Republic, issued by the Czech Republic),

c) if he/she is a holder of Schengen Visa issued by the Czech Republic after 11 May 2020,

d) if he/she is just transiting through the Czech Republic for less than 12 hours provided that he/she has permission for long-term or permanent residence in at least one of the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom or Vatican,

e) if his/her close family member (as defined in § 15a of this Act) is legal resident of the Czech Republic and at the same time is a citizen of at least one of the following countries:  Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom or Vatican,

f) if his/her entry into the country is in the interest of the Czech Republic, provided that the reason for his/her entry into the country is supported by an adequate document,

g) if he/she is working in international transport (for example crew member, driver of truck etc.) provided that the reason for his/her entry into the country is supported by an adequate document,

h) if he/she is:

- a member of diplomatic mission accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (including private servant), 
- a holder of Diplomatic Passport travelling to the Czech Republic for the diplomatic reason for the period not exceeding 14 days, or
- an official of international organization registered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic,

i) in special urgent situations like:

- in need to provide planned medical services,
- performance of an obligation imposed by a court,
- a trip based on a summons from a government authority,
- execution of a judgment,
- dealings with public authorities,
- necessary care for close family members who are unable to take care of themselves on their own,
- exercise of the right to take care of a minor child or be in contact with a minor child,
- some humanitarian situation,

provided that the reason for the entry into the Czech Republic is supported by an adequate document,

j) if he/she has a demonstrable permanent partnership with

- a citizen of the Czech Republic or
- with national of one of the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom or Vatican, with temporary residence certificate for a stay of over 90 days or with permanent residence permit,

who:
- has accepted the obligations set out in point I.5 of this Protective Measure, and
- lives demonstrably in the same household with him/her and
- has been admitted to the territory of the Czech Republic based on a confirmation issued by the Visa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

In other cases the entry into the Czech Republic is not allowed.

It is not possible to travel to the Czech Republic for the purpose of tourism or visiting friends.  Taking into account the other introduced restrictions (such as closure of hotels and accommodation facilities for tourists or limiting the group size in public spaces to a maximum of two people), it is now possible to travel to the Czech Republic only for essential reasons and this applies for travelling from all countries.

This decision does not affect cross-border workers.

Persons, who arrive in the Czech Republic for essential reasons, are kindly reminded of the COVID-19  related obligations after the entry to the territory of the Czech Republic to be followed. The obligations include an obligation to fill in the electronic Public Health Passenger Locator Form before the arrival in the Czech Republic and an obligation to undergo an RT-PCR test upon arrival in the Czech Republic.

The ban (with clear defined exceptions) to the free movement of all persons in the territory of the Czech Republic is valid until 20 November 2020, however, it could be extended.
